Gender Selection – Can You Choose Your Baby’s Gender

So, can you? You can always try. There are no proven, scientific methods for this yet, but there are plenty of anecdotes that prove thousands of couples all over the world were able to influence their baby’s gender in various ways. The most popular, and possibly the one holding most merit, is by scheduling sexual intercourse on certain times of the month. Call it baloney if you will, but this method has worked for a lot of people wanting to have a baby boy or a baby girl. The lack of scientific evidence shouldn’t serve as proof that it doesn’t work. If you’re determined to have a boy or a girl, you can always try. And if you fail the first time, you can always try again next time. We won’t get into the intricate details of counting the days of your menstrual cycle here. You can use the calendar method if you have a regular cycle of 28 days or various other methods, such as measuring your basal body temperature, checking your cervical mucus or using ovulation predictor kits. The reason you need to do this is that the time of the month you have sex affects your baby’s gender.

Here’s how.

There are two kinds of sperm cells that fertilize an egg. These are the female sperm cells, those that turn out into a baby girl, and male sperm cells, or those that turn out into a baby boy. Female sperm cells are very much like their full-grown human counterparts. They are slower and thus take longer to reach the egg cell, but they are stronger and don’t die out as quickly as the male sperm cells. The male sperm cells, on the other hand, are quicker and more energetic like the little boys they grow up into, but also run out of energy much faster than the female sperm cells.

For couples wanting to have a baby girl, it is recommended that you have sex up to three days before the egg is released during ovulation. The girl sperm cells should be able to survive long enough to fertilize the new egg and the male sperm cells should have died away by then. If you want a baby boy, however, leave no room for the female sperm cells to get near the egg. Having sex after ovulation should increase your chances of conceiving a baby boy. You can also have sex in positions that ensure deep penetration. This ensures that male sperm cells reach the egg cell right away while preventing the female sperm cells from catching up.
