There are different types of color blindness. The best way to know for sure is to check with the doctor. They have simple tests to find out. My 3 year old is the same, and my grandfather had colorblindness. He is still young, but if it is the same at his next checkup I will ask his doctor about it.

My 5 year old nephew has trouble with colors too. I think if he can identify red/pink as well as blue he is not color blind. Like someone else pointed out, sometimes boys are just a little slower to pick up on these things. I'm sure one day it will just "click" and he'll be naming every color he sees with no problem.

Someone else told me guys are just lazy! I asked the eye dr about it the last time I was there and she said if he can't name any colors then it would be pointless. Figures! He is the type of kid that one day just get's it, so I'm hoping that day happens soon! :)

I think the eye doctor has special visual cards that can tell you if you are color blind. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's quite common in males.

Yes! My kid is the same way, except he's 2 1/2, and he calls white, black and brown the same name/word. I think it's just a phase, because on color blind tests, the red and blue turn out the same. So that he knows red/pink is a good sign. I think. I'm not an expert, so don't hold me to it!! :)
