Ten-year police veteran Michael Beckett has policing in his blood and knows no other life. Until by chance he lands a small role on Law & Order, and decides he can start a new life in front of the camera. But when the neighborhood of a young, hot Law & Order scriptwriter Solana Ortiz becomes the target of a string of arsons, Beckett uncovers a scheme that reaches into the deepest pockets of power and greed in New York City, and into the path of an old friend that Beckett will do almost anything to forget . . .
Normally I'm not one to read a book that had a religious title, but when I read the description of "Confessions of a Catholic Cop", I figured I might actually like it! There was a small part talking about Law & Order and I am obsessed with Law & Order. So, without hesitation, I delved into the book!
I was pleasantly surprised at how catchy it was! If it weren't for having the responsibility of being a mom, I would have finished it a lot sooner then I did! It was definitely a book that once you pick up, you can't put it down. The characters were written so real that you were able to feel as though you were part of the story and it really did remind me overall of a very long episode of Law & Order which I love since that's something I always wished for! Who doesn't love longer episodes of an amazing story!
Thomas Fitzsimmons is actually a former NYPD officer and celebrity bodyguard to A-list celebrities including Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow. I think the fact that he once was an officer (as well as grew up in a family of cops) actually made it super easy to put a play on possible true experiences. I feel as though this makes the book come to life!
If you love crime stories as well as on going suspense, I suggest you pick up a copy of "Confessions of a Catholic Cop"! You will get lost in the secrets, pain, and terror that the characters are experiencing and will not want to put it down. Fortunately, I feel as though this may be the start of a serious since Fitzsimmonsleaves the book almost open-ended! So I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for a second novel!
