I think over time, it has become natural to put our children in front of the tv with a good cartoon to keep them occupied. I know I am very guilty. I try to make sure all tv shows are educational though so I am always looking for great new DVDs. Since it has been cold and snowy out for the past couple of months, we haven't been outside much. Now, originally I had thought that the Yoga Power Curriculum was a DVD which is why I had picked it. But it turned out to be a book and I actually found that it stored so much wonderful information! I actually was glad that it was a book because it had activities and helpful lessons as well as how to approach children that don't seem to want to participate as much. 

I went to college for elementary education and have always wanted to be a grade school teacher and I can tell just by reading the Yoga Power Curriculum, that it would definitely be useful in classes! Which means, it would also be a great tool for homeschool parents! You can use the worksheets to help your little ones (and older children also) understand, not only yoga and exercise better, but also information on the body and it's functions and being healthy! One of my favorite sheets is the Skeleton & Joints Page and the Muscles page. It has pictures of the anatomy and lists all of the muscles, joints, and bones! I always used to love planning curriculum so these pages (and so many of the others) would make great activity handouts to get the whole class involved. 

The I actually have been going through the book with Riley and for a 2 years old, he has picked up a lot of what I'm teaching him. We have also been using the Possum's Tail - 1 story movement DVD from the Scooter & Me series a lot! He has loved participating in all of the activities, and I have as well. This is such a great opportunity to play along with your children and get your exercise in. And it is nice to watch your children look to you for help. Even if Riley isn't standing and doing all of the actions, I will find him doing the hand motions. He constantly asks to "exercise" and even does some of the movements while we're out! It's just nice to switch up the normal plain DVDs to one that will get us all up and moving.
