Sew Savy

It's been forever since I've sewn anything! After making 84 blankets for St. Judes, I put my machine away because I was all sewn out! Then Emma came and now I just don't have the time or motivation to do much in the line of crafts!I am determined to pull my machine out within the next month and get to working on a couple projects I put on hold!

So here's what I want to know...What have YOU made lately? It doesn't have to be sewn...just any craft at all. I'm going through hand made with drawl and would love to see all of the cutesy things that have been made with love!

$5 off of Blue Buffalo

If you go to their site and COMPARE DOG FOODS you'll get the opportunity to print out a $5 off coupon!

How Cute is this!

I think this Tinkerbell organizer/toy box is super adorable and would look so cute in Emma's room when we finally move! Well, over at Hair and Share they have a giveaway for one! Fingers crossed that we win! With all the money were gonna spend with moving we aren't gonna be able to decorate the kids rooms right away so this would be a great addition in her room!

Toddler Tantrums

Riley's latest thing is throwing tantrums! Everywhere and all the time! Anytime he doesn't get what he wants or is told no he will throw himself on the floor and scream at the top of his lungs! Its so embarrassing. Above is just a small example!

Two years ago I was guilty of being on of those people who give parents dirty looks when they would (couldn't) control their children...NOW I'M ONE OF THEM! It's funny how life changes after you have kids of your own and realize that "Kids will be Kids". I do, however, try to control as much as I can. Numerous times I have gotten a box as soon as my meal had come if we are eating out, I have left my cart in the middle of stores, and I have canceled plans on really bad days. I'm sure in 10 years I'll look back on all of these times at how hard I had thought it was and laugh! But not now!

Are your kids as bad as mine? I swear they team up against me! Emma will scream and Riley will throw a tantrum. And it never fails...one after the other or together! When this happens, I breathe and repeat "I love my children, I love my children, I love my children".

So, here is my question. How do you control your children? Have you found anything that works? And please hurry! Here comes another tantrum! Hahaha!

Birthday Bashes on a Budget

With Rileys 2nd Birthday quickly approaching I've been deciding whether to have a big party or just me, Kyle, and Riley with some ice cream cake. I hate the stress, planning, and clean up of parties! I would rather throw some money in his bank account, buy him a present, sing happy birthday and call it a day! So much easier.

But....is that really possible? Really? I'll probably wind up having a party. Knowing this, but still in denial, I started perusing through articles on various websites for party ideas and how to save money. Of course I found great info on my favorite "GO TO" website. BabyZone! They always have what I'm looking for!

I found this article "Birthday Bashes on a Budget" and it has a lot of great ideas so I'm sharing this in hopes that someone else finds it useful as well!

Ideas for a Healthy Easter Basket!

With Easter approaching quickly, I realized I have yet to even get a basket and of course can't find Riley's from last year! So, this week I will be making a trip to Target to compile everything. I'm making a list so I don't stray from the healthy ideas to the nice HUGE candy section they have set up!

While trying to find some ideas on how to make an Easter basket up without all of the candy and snacks, I came across www.superkidsnutrition.com. They have some fabulous ideas on how to keep your children's Easter baskets safe and healthy! Here are some ideas I learned about from their website that I will definitely be using for the kid's Easter baskets this year:

"Healthy, Sweet and Fun Easter Basket Ideas:
  • Bunny Cupcakes - Bake or purchase whole grain carrot mini muffins - decorate with bunny cupcake toppers for extra fun.
  • Too Cute - Clementines will add a bold splash of spring color and are a sweet treat kids will love to eat.  Mini red and green apples work well too.
  • Frozen Fun - Freeze-dried fruit tastes just like candy - kids love bananas, mango and apples.  Be sure
  • Veg Out - Now that spring is here, inspire kids to grow a vegetable and herb garden by packing a garden tote (in place of a basket) with a seed kit, mini pots and kid-size gardening gloves and spade."
I hope your Easter is a little less stressful with a couple of helpful hints from their website as well!

*Disclaimer: This is my honest opinion and I was not paid to post this, however, by posting this I am being entered into a contest to win a $250 Visa gift card to stock my pantry with healthy food!

Torrid: $25 back for every $50 spent!

I'm a bigger girl and its hard to find clothes that fit nice. Well I never have a problem finding awesome fitting jeans at Torrid! I'm not too fond of their shirt styles. They are a little too punk rockish for my tastes but their jeans...Yeah! Amazing! Right now they have $25 back for every $50 spent! So if you're a chunky girl like myself and are looking for some nice fitting jeans you should check out their store!

It's Time to Clean!

It's spring which means spring cleaning! I always loved spring cleaning when I was little! My mom would open all of the windows and turn the music up and grab the pledge! I always remember the smell of Pledge! We would dance around cleaning! Ahhh...the smell of fresh air and music and cleaning! Memories of being a kid!

So obviously I'll be doing some of my own spring cleaning soon only I doubt I'll be able to recruit my Mom now that I have my own house! LOL

I'm wonder what you do for Spring cleaning? Do you map out a plan or dive right in? Do you go room to room or are you all over the place? I always love hearing how people clean because I usually find an easier way to get some serious cleaning done!

So I want to hear your ideas! What is your cleaning style?

GIVEAWAY!!! Gymboree Baby Boys Hat

I think it's time for another giveaway!

I am a huge Gymboree fan! Majority of Riley and Emma's clothes are Gymbo clothes! When I found out I was pregnant with Emma I swore she was going to be a boy so I bought sale boy items. Well...almost a year later and here SHE is! So not a boy!

This super cute hat is one of those items I purchased. Since I won't EVER be using it I figure it will make an awesome giveaway for some lucky little boy! It is 0-3 months for size and brand new with the tags still on!

I used a stock photo but I will try to snap one of the actual hat because it's reversible and the picture doesn't show that!

Do You Vaccinate?

I do and I'm always wondering when and what vaccinations my children are due for. I know the doctors are usually on top of this but I found a tool that helps me feel at ease. On MSN Health and fitness I found THIS article that has a vaccination calender that covers newborns to adults! This is something that I printed out immediately because I'm always worried that Emma and Riley are going to get the wrong shots or get them too close together. If you're like me I suggest using this as a tool to keep you on track too!

How to Train Your Dragon

Yesterday we went to see "How to Train Your Dragon".

I must say that I didn't expect this movie to be as great as it was. Every time the previews would come on TV Riley would squeal with delight so I knew I would have to take him eventually! When my mom called me asking if I wanted to go of course I said yes! Kyle was off of work so he could watch Emma and I could take just Riley which hasn't happened since Emma was born.

I was pretty sure we would never make it through the whole movie what with this being his first one an all. Surprisingly he didn't get antsy until about 20 minutes before the movie ended. I pulled a bad mommy and handed over the popcorn because I was so into the movie myself! That definitely helped him last through the whole thing!

He was mimicking the characters through the whole movie and clapping with everyone else. It was easy to enjoy this movie because there were a bunch of other kids talking so I didn't have to worry about anyone telling me to quiet my child.

The movie is more realistic than cartoonish but that didn't confuse Riley! There were dragons and that's all that mattered! It was nice to see him enjoy it so much but I was sad to realize that my baby boy was growing up. I definitely recommend everyone with children to go see this movie! I'm not a huge movie person but this was definitely worth the money to see on the big screen!

Did anyone else get a chance to see it yet? If so, what did you think?

Detailed Hospital Bills

A few tips I've recently come to realize about hospital & doctor bills
  • ALWAYS call and ask for a discount. Make sure you ask if they can do better also. Sometimes they give you a better deal if you ask.
  • ALWAYS ask for payment plans. Unless you prefer to pay in full. And if the payments aren't what you can afford ask for lower payments. Normally they will work with you.
  • ALWAYS ask for a detailed statement. I just got mine for Emma's stay at the hospital when I had her and they charged us for TWO hep B shots! Double check and google all of the items on the list. You'll be surprised at what those big long words actually mean and the cost of them! Ointment in a hospital is $50!!!
I hope this helps someone else out too! I wish I would have known alot of the above sooner! If you have anymore tips make sure you let us know!

KRUSTBUSTER

I'm a huge Amazon junkie! I buy pretty much everything from there! Well, the other day I was ordering a memory card for my camera and I was of course using the supersaver shipping! Well, I needed to add $10 more to my cart or pay $6 for shipping which was NOT going to happen! So I started searching around and was contemplating a couple of neat toys! I'm always up for buying something new for the kids

After searching for what seamed like hours this thing called a Krustbuster popped up! I was looking at it in amazement wondering why I had not ever come across something like this before! I'm a lazy luncher! That's what I like to call myself! I find the easiest thing I can make...or not make...and thats what we have for lunch. Obviously our fridge is constantly stocked with those smuckers uncrustables. I get them in bulk at BJ's! So...you can only imagine my new found excitement to save money for a few extra minutes in my day!

I got it in the mail the other day and washed it and went to work making PB&J sandwiches for Riley! What is super neat is that you can make a bunch and freeze them in sandwich baggies which takes me back to being lazy! Pop them in the microwave for about 10 seconds and you've got lunch! Super easy!

I also learned that you can just leave the sandwich in the device so it doesn't get crushed too which is cool but I think if I'm going to make one sandwich, I'm going to make a lot! One of the reasons that I say this is because it can get kind of messy since the sides get squeezed. But obviously its not a huge deal if your making a lot of them or if you like a mess!

I think that with younger kids this is a great thing to have because it seems less messy while they are eating them than a regular sandwich. Riley seems to keep more in his mouth and less on his clothes! So if you're looking for a new family friendly product I definitely recommend this! It's pretty cheap with it being only $10!

Here is the link if you're interested in checking it out for yourself! Krustbuster

VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!! Victoria's Secret Purse

I figured my first Giveaway should be something from me to you! And here it is! This could be yours! Its a brand new Victoria's Secret Purse!

I'm a huge fan of everything Victoria's Secret! Before I had kids I would seriously stock pile bras and panties and hand bags and lip gloss from there! Now that I have kids my buying has been more geared towards them! And the only bag I'm carrying around is a diaper bag! LOL

So I've been holding onto this one for a while because it is super cute...but in all honesty it will probably stay nicely stored (with tags) in a tote forever! So its time to let go! I'm sure someone can love this cute little hand bag. Its perfect for spring and summer which have been creeping up on us! Who wants it?! Sunday, March 21, 2010

I've recently become really intrigued by a couple of really awesome review & giveaway blogs. I am always trying new baby, toddler and adult products. I always leave feedback for them because I like other Moms like myself to be able to know what works and what doesn't in order to save them some time when shopping around!

I always do tons of research before I make a purchase regardless of how much I'm spending. My husband always makes fun of me because he says I spend more time researching the product then actually using it! Regardless of whether this is true or not (IT IS!) I still feel more comfortable once I have researched what I am buying. It gives me a sense of reassurance.

So, I figure I might as well blog about what my latest purchases consist of and can hopefully rally up some companies to let me try their products to review and sponsor some giveaways! I LOVE LOVE LOVE giveaways and have just recently won some myself and I would love to give that opportunity to my readers!

So if you're looking for some great reviews & giveaways or if you're looking to have your products reviewed & sponsor a giveaway please contact me and let me know!
